Shop Member Spotlight: Mildly Milton

Milton gave us a scare earlier this month when it looked like he was moving towards the end of his life. Grumpiness, lethargy, and disinterest in food had us rushing him to the vet where we received quite a few medical updates.

Our nearly 15-year-old boy has had kidney disease since we adopted him from ALIVE Rescue when he was 13. His values had remained steady during that time but suddenly increased. In addition to that, he'd developed a low-grade heart murmur and started to have significant neurological issues that manifested as difficulty controlling his rear legs.

It was quite the laundry list of complaints, but between us and his medical teams, we came up with a thorough care plan. We've increased his acupunture, physical therapy, massage, and laser treatments, added chiropractic treatments, and started subcutaneous fluids at home. (Yes, we go the distance for our rescue pups). A few days later, at his first chiropractic adjustment, the vet rechecked Milton, and I'm pleased to tell you his kidney values dropped, his appetite was back, and his grumps returned to normal I'm-sure-it's-dinnertime-now levels.

Which is to say our little love is no longer in crisis mode, and if we're lucky, we may get to celebrate his 15th birthday on June 21st. And that makes all of us very, very happy.
