An Impromptu New Year's Eve Display
A few days before New Year's Eve, the skeletons informed me that they'd be heading outside for a socially distanced party on the front lawn.
One last dance, they said, before we rest 'til August. We need bubbly, dresses, permanent markers, and -- most critically -- a dumpster fire.
I (of course) was only too happy to oblige. (We keep our monsters happy in this house).
The skeletons got the party started early and attracted visitors all day. We invited our neighbours to leave behind what they didn't want to take into 2021 in the form of graffiti. In permanent marker, they scrawled out what they no longer needed.
Highlights included:
- "The karowna vairiss"
- "my marriage"
- "Traffic violations at Lunt and Sacramento"
The skeletons thanked each one for their contributions and offered hauntings of peace, love, and laughter in return. In the evening, they put up a small AtmosFX display of fireworks, party banners, streamers, and a monster band.
And thus we said goodbye to 2020 and looked, with brighter sockets, to 2021.
